Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Friday is the chief of all days, and the greatest day in the sight of Allah.” In the sight of Allah, the day of Jumu’ah is more than Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. Jumu’ah is an Arabic word which means “gathering”. The descendants of Adam will be gathered on that day. Adam and Eve met on earth on the same day. He died on that day and the Hour will come on that day. The hadith mentions the names of Jumu’ah. Such as Sayyid al-Ayyam (leader of the days), Khair al-Ayyam (the best day), Afzal al-Ayyam (the day of virtue), Eid al-Mu’minin (the day of the believers). Friday is an Islamic term. The Sabbath was a day of worship for the Jews because that day saved the Israelites from Pharaoh. Christians set their own Sunday to separate themselves from the Jews. Neither Jesus nor his book commanded this. Islam has always kept its nation distinguished and has chosen Friday for worship. That is why Friday is called the day of Eid. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “On that day your father Adam was born, and on that day the trumpet will be blown and on that day people will be raised from the graves. And on that day everyone will be seized. ” ۔ It is narrated from Imam that he said that Friday means more than Laylatul Qadr. Friday is better than all other days. Every Muslim must perform ghusl on Fridays, keep his hair and body clean, brush his teeth, wear nice clothes, cut his nails, smell his perfume, and so on. Blessed is he who takes a good bath on Friday, purifies himself and goes to the mosque on time, then he sacrifices a camel, and whoever goes in the second hour after that, he sacrifices a cow. The one who went in the third hour offered a frog and the one who went in the fourth hour gave a charity of an egg. When the Khatib comes out to deliver the sermon, the angels leave the door of the mosque and come and sit in the mosque to offer prayers. Explaining the virtue of Jumu’ah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that there is a citadel in it in which a Muslim who is committed to prayers, Allah Almighty grants whatever he asks from Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “I will burn the house of the man who prays Friday prayers in his house.” When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon, his blessed eyes would turn red and his voice would become louder. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach Islam to the Companions in his sermons. Hazrat Jabr says that the prayers of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were moderate and the sermon was also moderate. He used to recite the Holy Qur’an and then give advice to the people. The Friday sermon should be delivered in a relaxed and calm manner. So that there can be spiritual benefit. The prayer that is asked for on Friday must be fulfilled. It is obligatory on a Muslim to perform the Friday prayers and to encourage people to do the same.
